Technical Expert, Underground Drills & Shotcrete Equipment Maintenance-1201155

Description

Area of Focus
 
The incumbent in this role will provide support by monitoring, reviewing and analyzing allocated underground machinery for equipment repair and maintenance. They will also provide advice and/or expertise for all relevant underground maintenance activities (i.e. rationalization, trials, upgrades etc.) to ensure all equipment is reliable, availability targets are achieved and equipment is working efficiently and in compliance with all relevant standards to support the company's operational goals and targets.
 
 
Additional responsibilities:
 
1.  Conduct daily inspections of allocated equipment used in operational areas to ensure safe and correct maintenance procedures are being followed and operational daily mandatory checks are being carried out.
2.  Monitor and control daily activities relative to assigned equipment to ensure the status of equipment is up to date.
3. Organization of backlogged repairs with shop staff for machinery repair/maintenance and availability of spare parts to ensure all equipment performance targets are achieved.
4.   Provide technical instructional support to national staff & non-staff for relevant maintenance activities and guidance to ensure all works are compliant with international standards and tasks are completed in a safe manner, within budget and on schedule.
5.  Provide recommendations and assist with preparation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safe work practices for field activities.
6. Provide guidance for national mechanics on conducting and implementing JSA's for field activities as/when required.         
7.  Review and recommend projects relative to shop safety improvements in order to ensure the achievement of company objectives aligned with industry best practice.
8.  Work with national staff in workshops to review weekly maintenance plan inclusive of schedules, machinery utilization, repairs and maintenance backlogs and available manpower to enable proper maintenance practices to be conducted.
9.  Train, develop, coach and motivate mechanics to enhance their skills, knowledge and capability to an acceptable high standard and assist with development of programs to enhance knowledge of national employee's.
10. Provide expertise on developing any required facilities (e.g., daily service facilities, wash bays, shop support, equipment etc.) to ensure compliance with industry standard.
11. Coach and mentor national staff and crew leaders to enhance their leadership abilities and both workshop and man management skills.
12. Implementation of safety standards and procedures within work areas to align with industry best practice to minimize eliminate accidents and damage.
 
 

Qualifications

Requirements
 
 
· Bachelor's (S1) degree in mining/mechanical/electrical/structural background, with up to five (5) year's experience on a wide range of assigned equipment or diploma with ten (10) year's experience in assigned equipment.
· Incumbent must have strong background and experience with the following assigned equipment: Sandvik and Cubex UG drills, Jacon and Getman remixers and shotcrete delivery units and various makes of concrete and grout pumps i.e. Schwing, Degussa GP2000 and Atlas Copco.
·  Ability to train/teach/coach/mentor.
·  Computer literacy for diagnostic purpose.
·  Understanding of preventive maintenance systems.
·  Experience in working with a cultural diversified workforce.
·  Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
·  Strong analytical and problem analysis, including cost and financial analysis.
·  Strong decision making skills.
